2.0 INTRODUCTION

2.1 Title:
“The Effect of Chikungunya”

2.1.1 Reason for Choosing the Title:

2.1.1.1 The title was chosen because Chikungunya is the latest disease over the world and included Malaysia.

2.1.1.2 The title was chosen because I have been seen many news and article in newspaper about Chikungunya and it effect toward human ability.

2.1.2 General Purpose:
To inform

2.1.3 Specific Purpose:

2.1.3.1 To inform my audience about the effect of Chikungunya to human, the symptoms of Chikungunya, the medicine and the ways to overcome from it.

2.1.4 Central Purpose:
2.1.4.1 Definitions of Chikungunya

2.1.4.1.1 According to Wikipedia (2008) Chikungunya is an insect borne virus, of the genus, Alphavirus that transmitted to human by virus carrying mosquitoes. The term of Chikungunya are came from Makonde language. Which means “that which bends up”. Other than that, Chikungunya also known as CHIKV.

2.1.4.1.2 According to Alan.T (2009) Chikungunya virus is come form the combination of and African virus (RNA Virus) and Asian mosquito, which reflecting the globalization of vector disease.

2.1.4.2 Symptoms of Chikungunya

2.1.4.2.1 According to CDC (2008) Chikungunya symptoms is divided into a few categories which is:
2.1.4.2.1.1 Fever
2.1.4.2.1.2 Headache
2.1.4.2.1.3 Fatigue
2.1.4.2.1.4 Nausea
2.1.4.2.1.5 Vomiting
2.1.4.2.1.6 Muscle and Joint pain
2.1.4.2.1.7 Rash

2.1.4.2.2 According to CDC (2008) the pregnant women who are infected with Chikungunya will get the same symptoms like others.

2.1.4.2.3 According to Babycenter (2008) children seems to be less affected than older individuals. In facts there have been cases where infected children have shown no symptoms at all.

2.1.4.3 Medicine In Chikungunya

2.1.4.3.1 According to WHO (2008) it states that no vaccine of specific antiviral treatment for Chikungunya fever is available, treatment is symptomatic-rest fluid, and analgesics (pain killer) may relieve symptoms of fever and pain. Paracetamol is the drug of choice with use of other analgesics if paracetamol does not provide relief.

2.1.4.3.2 According to Wikipedia (2008) during the acute stage of the disease steroids are not usually indicated because of the adverse effect. Aspirin is preferable avoided for fear of gastrointestinal and other side like Reye’s Syndrome. Mild from of exercise and physiotherapy are recommended in recovering person. Chloroquine might also effective in treating Chikungunya, because there has no effect of using it toward humans.

2.1.4.4 The Ways to Avoid from Chikungunya

2.1.4.4.1 CDC (2009) states that the best ways to prevent form Chikungunya infection is to avoid from mosquito bites. These are some ways to avoid from mosquito and Chikungunya:

2.1.4.4.1.1 Use insect repellant
2.1.4.4.1.2 Wear long sleeves and pants.
2.1.4.4.1.3 Have secure screens on windows and doors to keep mosquitoes out.
2.1.4.4.1.4 Get rid of mosquito sources in your yard by emptying standing water from flower pots, buckets and barrels.
2.1.4.4.1.5 A person who with Chikungunya fever should limit their exposure to mosquito bites.

2.1.4.5 Effect of Chikungunya

2.1.4.5.1 Gerardin Petal (2008) states that Chikungunya virus is an infectious agent transmitted by mosquitoes, appears seldom to harm. Infants of mothers infected early in pregnancy, but can frequently causes serious problems, including lasting brain injury, in babies born to mother who acquire the virus near the time of delivery. All of the infected babies were born healthy but develop fever, weakness, and pain within 3-7 days. 10 of these babies became seriously ill, nine develop brain swelling and two had bleeding into the brain. Disabilities persisted in 4 children at the end of the study several months later.

3.4 The Ways to Avoid from Chikungunya

3.4.1 CDC (2009) states that the best ways to prevent form Chikungunya infection is to avoid from mosquito bites. These are some ways to avoid from mosquito and Chikungunya:

3.4.1.1 Use insect repellant containing DEET, Picaridin, oil of lemon eucalyptus, or IR3535 on exposed skin. Always follow the direction on the package.

3.4.1.2 Wear long sleeves and pants (ideally treat clothes with permethrin or another repellent).

3.4.1.3 Have secure screens on windows and doors to keep mosquitoes out.

3.4.1.4 Get rid of mosquito sources in your yard by emptying standing water from flower pots, buckets and barrels. Change the water in pet dishes and replace the water in bird baths weekly. Drill holes in tire swings so water drains out. Keep children’s wading pools empty an on their sides when they aren’t being used.

Disabilities persisted in 4 children at the end of the study several months later.

4.0 CONCLUSION

In conclusion, I would like to convince all my audience that Chikungunya virus is the bad disease. If some one infected with the virus they will suffer of disabilities to do the heavy job for a long time.

The WHO has shown that there are many effect of Chikungunya towards pregnancy mother, babies, older and youngest people and also animals. The prevention from the disease by keep clean your house, will help you life peacefully.

Last but not least, if your resident is infecting by Chikungunya, don’t forget to report to the nearest public health authority because prevention is good than cure. “No Aedes, No Chikungunya”.

PiScES pERsOnALItY..

  • Pisces are often thought to be very emotional, though their emotions aren't always openly expressed.
  • They can be outwardly observed, but inside, they can be swimming in a sea of emotion.
  • Pisces like things to go their way, but they aren't always complainers.
  • Many of them prefer to pretend to have a good time, while inwardly upset that things aren't going exactly as they planned.
  • Still others think of "things going their way" simply as spending time with the people they care about, and don't particularly care what they happen to be doing at the time.
  • The common thread with all Pisces, and indeed, all people of all signs, is that they enjoy the feeling of being valued and respected by the people they are around.
  • Feelings of being value-less or worthless to those they care about can be the most intense negative feelings for Pisces.
  • Many Pisces try to hide their emotions behind a mask when around others, but tend to drop the mask once they feel comfortable in a close relationship.
  • This "dropping of the mask" can be startling to some who assume that the Pisces outer exterior of calm is the real them, so one should be prepared.
  • Pisces can be compatible with all signs
